Bracken House

Just an 8-minute drive from Exmoor National Park and 12 minutes from Barnstaple, Bracken House B&B offers high-quality accommodation with a 5-star rating from the AA. Formerly a Victorian rectory, Bracken House provides four en-suite rooms with free parking and Wi-Fi. The 4 en-suite rooms are named after the characters of PG Wodehouse, who used to stay at the house when his uncle was Rector. Each room has an en-suite shower room, apart from the ground floor bedroom which has an en-suite bathroom with bathtub, this is also more suitable for disabled access. All rooms have flat screen TV's and tea and coffee making facilities. As well as an award-winning breakfast, Bracken House can sometimes provide evening meals, if booked at least 24 hours in advance. The north Devon coastal resorts of Ilfracombe and Woolacombe are both around 30 minutes’ drive from Bracken House. Nearby Barnstaple has a range of restaurants and shops and holds regular markets. Our bedrooms vary quite a lot - One was the Rector's, one was his dressing room and another was the guest room, where the Bishop would stay. They all have en suite facilities including toilets and washbasins. Six have baths with showers, whilst the other two have walk-in showers. All bedrooms are equipped with hot drink facilities, bottled Devon water, hairdryers, colour televisions, push-button radios, books and magazines. Two bedrooms are on the ground floor, one of them completely level with all of the public rooms. We would be pleased to discuss their suitability for anyone with mobility problems. Room views vary from Super, looking down the valley to the sea and Hartland Point to Good, overlooking our paddocks. Interesting food is an important ingredient of any holiday and we hope that you will enjoy our Aga-oriented style of cooking. There is a different dinner menu every day.
